Black cherry and pomegranate aromas are laced with hints of white pepper, Occidental dust, and vanillin spice. The palate entry has gobs of fruit, with cherry, bramble and ripe strawberry at the core. Smooth, round tannins anchor a great depth and concentration of flavor, and the excellent balance makes this Zinfandel a great food wine. 

Aromas of blackberry, black cherry and black plum, typical of Von Weidlich Zinfandel, are augmented with cinnamon spice and well-integrated oak and toast. Flavors are thick with blackberry, dried currant, and cherry compote. The broad mid-palate features concentrated fruit and big, soft tannins, a prelude to the lingering finish that resonates with pure Zinfandel varietal character. 

Bright and bold aromas of raspberry and blueberry mingle with black pepper spice and a good dollop of French oak. The entry is lush with gobs of fruit, giving way to an expansive, tongue coating mid-palate and layers of spiced berry and cherry.

92pts. October 2011 Wine Enthusiast. Shows a delicate texture, almost Pinot Noir-like in lightness, yet offers a blast of berry, spice, tobacco, cola and bacon flavors that are lusty and ripe. The grapes come from the Green Valley, and the alcohol is low while acidity is high. Beautiful and classy, a Zin to drink with everything from salmon and steak to tuna and short ribs.
